Let It Rain!

Let it Rain!

Matthew 5:45 “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: For he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and unjust.”

As a kid, when I played baseball nothing could have ruined the day more than a rain out. Talk about putting a kid in a bad mood. It seemed they never made the games up and we were stuck in doors, for a while any ways. Boy’s can have fun in the rain!

This topic came to mind in lieu of the heavy rain we got Wednesday. I and my daughter Brooke had done some yard work Monday. We cut the lawn, fertilized it and planted grass seed where the lawn had died. Though we had heavy dew it didn’t rain and because of the small amount of water in our well I couldn’t water the lawn, so all I could do is wait for the rain. Boy, did it rain. It fired me up because the water not only would melt the pellets that kill weeds but will give the grass seed a chance to grow. I really enjoyed watching the rain come down.

Those who enjoy the rain are those who have planted the seed. Though rain may cause some people to be miserable it causes others to be happy.

God’s Word is seed for our spiritual well being and often it takes a special rain to make it grow! When the Holy Spirit is working on us He is germinating the seed we have received. Sometimes it takes the rain of trials help germinate the seed. The trials are never pleasurable to the person who has not been seeded with God’s Word but James say’s “count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations” James 1:2. Why? Because the trials will help the seed take root. Many of you have witnessed to people you love and you hate to see them go through trouble. You need to remember that God might be sending rain on the seed you have sown. So let it rain! Remember how the rain of trouble lifted Noah’s ark and exposed the truth of God’s Word? That’s all it will do for those who by faith have received Christ!

Those who have not sowed seed have a hard time watching the rain. Sow the seed in your life and in the lives of others. When it rains God will give the increase!
