Treat Everyone Like A Winner!

Treat everyone like a winner!

James 2:8 & 9 “If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.”

In the recent NCAA men’s basketball championship game, Michigan verses Louisville, Rick Pitino was asked in the pregame interview who on Michigan did he consider to be the most dangerous threat, Burke or McGrary? Pitino said, we have to treat them all like winners, they are all good! Burke and McGrary had definitely been standout players in the tournament but Pitino was wise in his response by saying,“they are all winners”.  Though I was pulling for Michigan I respected his answer. That might be one of the reasons he is a hall of fame college coach.

The Lord Jesus knew how to make everyone feel important and that is why the common people heard him gladly. Though people have different gift sets and skills that are suited for different jobs everyone is important. When we as Christians especially teachers, coaches, preachers can make everyone feel like a winner in our presence we can begin to impact people for Christ. Yes, some will disappoint us, but some will exceed our expectations. May God help us to love people the way he does and not allow preconceived ideas to determine our attitude around people. All have eternal souls that Christ died for and many are not aware of their eternal destiny without Christ. We who know the truth cannot be respecters of persons when it comes to witnessing . You may win a diamond in the rough like Mr. Kimball did when he led Dwight Moody to Christ, a heavy, outgoing 15 year old who had received little formal education.  Mr. moody was later responsible for bringing nearly a million people to Christ. Treat everyone like a winner and you just might find some!
