When I was a child, my grandmother took me to church. I participated in church plays learning small parts. When we moved from Tucson, Arizona I no longer had my grandmother’s influence. Dad and Mom sent me to Sunday School from age 10-13, but after that I no longer had to go. I knew and believed in Jesus but I didn’t have a relationship with him.

Fast forward to when I was 30 years old, my mother kept inviting me to church but I wasn’t interested. Finally, on Mother’s day I went. I surrendered my life to Jesus that day and I have been serving Jesus as Lord and Savior ever since.

Growing up, my family attended the Catholic Church. When I got out on my own, I quit going and did not attend church at all for 8 years. My oldest sister accepted Jesus at her friends church. She witnessed to me, prayed with me, and invited me to church so many times, but I never went. Her family then moved to Chattanooga, and she wrote me letters all about Jesus. A few years later, I moved to Indianapolis. It was no surprise, she called and gave me the name of a church to visit in Indianapolis. One of her church friends there had lived in Indy and attended that church. I went but decided it wasn’t for me. Fast forward 10 months, I was going through a major change in my life that came very unexpectedly. I called her for prayer, and she led me through a prayer of salvation. I immediately knew something was different with me. She again mentioned that church in Indianapolis. I went again and this time I stayed. My life has never been the same since. I have always been involved with children’s ministry. I believe it is so important to teach children early to know Jesus, to recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit, to understand they have a calling, and to trust the Lord in all things concerning them.
