Is It Time To Go To The Dry Cleaner?

My grandmother, Louise Barnes, used to do my dry cleaning and I always loved the way my shirts and pants looked. I am not completely sure how she got them looking so well but she was good. I like my sleeves creased with medium starch and she could make them look professionally done. Summer time was rough on my shirts because I sweat a lot and there was some serious ring around the collar, but she was able to get every spot and wrinkle out. It took time, a hot iron, water and she took care of the rest. There is nothing like a clean pressed dress shirt to wear under a suit. I loved it. Thank you grandma!

Now where is this leading? Ephesians 5:26-27, “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of the water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

The Lord wants to present his church fully dry cleaned before the rapture, he wants his people to be dry cleaned, without spot or wrinkle.

God uses the water of His Word, and the heat, of every day pressure to cleanse us and remove the wrinkles. The question is, are you turning yourself over to Jesus every day to get dry cleaned? My dry cleaning was in good hands when it was in grandma’s hands but when I tried to do it, not so good.

When life seems most difficult and you feel dirty and out of control you may need to go to the heavenly cleaner. You won’t regret it. When the Lord was finished with Peter he was a better man. When the Lord was finished with Job he was a better man. When the Lord was finished with Hannah she was a better woman. When the Lord was finished with the maniac of Gadara he was clothed an in his right mind (Mark 5:15).

Our Lord can take some pretty tattered lives and make them clean and freshly pressed.
