Is Thy God Able?

And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? Daniel 6:20

A friend of mine sent me a text not long ago with the portion of this verse that is in bold. Servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

What an awesome text to receive. It really made me think and it challenged me. I was able to reply, so far so good! Only by the grace of God! I liked the text so much that I sent it out to a few other preachers. One of them replied with a like passage;

At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.  2 Timothy 4:16-17

I love it! He is a good brother and has the blessing of God on his life. I ask you, dear Christian, Is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee out of the mouth of the lions?

You know the lion has hold of you when you choose sin over righteousness! You know the lion has hold of you when you choose pleasure over responsibility! You know the lion has hold of you when you choose to run from your marriage rather than work on your marriage. You know the lion has hold of you when you choose to ignore parental responsibility rather than confront the need.

The lion I am talking about is far more concerned about destroying your testimony for Christ than he is taking your life! If Daniel had died, he still would have honored God and proved his devotion.

God chose to deliver him for glory and it served to convert the king. You will face lions if you are a Christian. The question from those watching you, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee?

The answer will always be yes! Those who are eaten of the lion worshipped another God! In the spiritual sense, the only way the devil can destroy you is if you begin to serve another god, the god of self, or gold, or some other idol! Only God can deliver!

The king needed to see this deliverance for his own conversion. There are people watching you and I, who need to see us remain faithful when we are among the lions. It is the only way they will be convinced that our God is able!

I love Daniel’s response: My God hath sent his angel and hath shut the lions mouth … Daniel 6:22

Moses, what happened to Pharoah and his great army? My God hath sent his angel and hath shut the lions mouth!

Joseph, what happened to your accusers? My God hath sent his angel and hath shut the lions mouth!

David, what happened to Saul? My God hath sent his angel and hath shut the lions mouth!

Hannah, what happened to your adversary? My God hath sent his angel and hath shut the lions mouth!

Elijah, what happened to Ahab and Jezebel? My God hath sent his angel and hath shut the lions mouth!

Stephen, you are facing death, are you afraid? My God hath sent his angel and hath shut the lions mouth!

Paul, what happened to those forty men who bound themselves with a curse until they killed you? My God hath sent his angel and hath shut the lions mouth!

The question is never can God take care of the lions? The real question ought to be, Whom are you serving?
