The Snare of The Fowler!

The Snare of The Fowler!

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence- Psalms 91:3

It is interesting that the Psalmist uses the metaphor the snare of the fowler. A fowler is a bird catcher and a snare is a type of slip knot. The promise of Psalms 91:3 says, those who dwell in the presence of the Lord shall be delivered from the snare of the fowler (bird catcher). Why fowler?

Isaiah 40:31 says, they that wait upon the Lord shall mount up with wings as eagles…

The fowler wants to keep you from mounting up with wings as eagles. He doesn’t want you to be able to leave the nest! He is more aware of your potential than you are. He knows that it is necessary to snare you if he is going to keep you grounded! He has many snares and he knows the bait to attract you. He may use the pleasures of this world or he may use the desire for riches. The fowler may use lust or some other sinful appetite to appeal to your old nature.

Have you found it hard to fly? Do you make commitments only to see yourself break them? Have you experienced new heights in your relationship with God? Are there besetting sins that have kept you grounded? It may be the fowler has you snared. There is a way of escape from the snare of the fowler and it is found in Psalms 91:1, he that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. In that shadow the fowler will flee, he has no power in the presence of the Lord. Submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee – James 4:7

A man was taking flight training and as he was flying he discovered a rattle snake in the cockpit of the plane. Filled with fear, he asked the instructor what he should do. The instructor told him to take the plane higher, in so doing the pressure will kill the snake. Child of God when you find yourself snared, go to God. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler!
